Happy End of March!
Boy did we walk into a room full of shenanigans the week of St. Patrick’s Day! I love this time of year! The kids were so creative with all of their traps! Don’t forget to look on DOJO to see them all, as well as some videos I took when we entered the room, if you haven’t already!
Friday (and today) we had a very fun day! 
An upcoming event that we will be scheduling soon is the day for the Biography presentations (fyi…the students will be dressing up/or bringing in an artifact to represent their person they are writing about). We don’t have a date yet, because I want to make sure all kids are ready to present, because it will be in front of all of you! It will most likely be around the first week of May. (I will keep you all posted.) They have been working very hard on these. I’m so proud of their diligence! After that we will be working on nonfiction pieces of animals that live in Rainforests. We will be presenting information through poetry during the Poetry Slam in May (date TBD), and on posters that we will make to sell at the Rainforest Celebration in May, as well.
Our Rainforest celebration is our last BIG celebration. It will be towards the end of May on Wednesday, May 28th. Please be thinking about different things we can sell to raise money for the Rainforest Alliance. Last year, the parents came up with some great food items. Pinterest has some fun ideas as well. We will be having a Rainforest Informational meeting on April 15th (Tuesday) right after school at 3pm in the 2nd grade classroom to discuss all the logistics. I hope those interested in helping can make it. It is a group project and won’t happen without your help.
Next, we are having another field trip! We will be going to the USS Midway in May. We will need drivers. If you intend to go, I need to know because we need to get a count for all adults. It is a field trip where we have to pay, but due to a substantial donation to our 2nd grade Science program, all children will be paid for, as well as, any adults that would like to attend. But I do need to know ahead of time.
Lastly, I wanted to give you all a heads up on things that will be coming up rather quickly, before they actually get here. The year has been passing by so fast! If you have any questions, please let me know! Thank you again for all of your help and sharing your kiddos with me! 🙂
